Waxed candle wicks with bases
£0.95 – £4.95
Waxed candle wicks are an essential component in candle making, providing the structure and fuel for the flame.
Waxed Candle Wicks:
made from braided cotton or other natural fibers and coated in wax, the wicks have enough support to stand upright whilst you pour the wax, but we do recommend using wick supports to ensure the wick remains central whilst cooling.
The wicks are coated with a thin layer of wax. This wax coating serves multiple purposes—it helps the wick stand upright and provides a combustible material for the flame to ignite. The wax coating is usually made from the same type of wax used in the candle, promoting uniformity in burn characteristics.
The wicks are often braided to enhance their stability and strength. The braided design helps prevent the wick from splitting or falling apart during burning.
The metal base provides a sturdy foundation for the wick, keeping it upright and centered within the candle, though we would recommend using wick supports for best results.
Shape and Size:
The tab makes it easy to secure the wick to the bottom of the candle during the pouring and cooling process. The size of the base is proportionate to the diameter of the candle, ensuring proper support.
The primary function of the base is to anchor the wick at the bottom of the candle. This helps maintain the wick’s position during the pouring of hot wax and subsequent cooling, ensuring that the wick remains centered and straight.
The waxed candle wick with its base is a simple yet crucial component in candle making. When integrated into a candle, it presents a clean and cohesive appearance, contributing to the overall aesthetic of the finished product.
